How dark can I legally tint my windows in Maine?
Maine law requires the front side windows to let at least 35% of visible light through (35% VLT). Rear side windows and the back glass can be darker, and the windshield may only be tinted in a strip above the AS-1 line. We stock legal shades for every XPEL film and will recommend one that fits your vehicle, and medical exemptions are available through the Maine BMV.
What is the difference between XPEL PRIME CS, XR and XR PLUS?
PRIME CS is a colour-stable carbon film with strong heat rejection and no purple fade. PRIME XR adds nano-ceramic technology for much higher infrared heat rejection and clearer glass. PRIME XR PLUS is the top tier, with the highest infrared heat rejection of the three and the best clarity. All three block 99% of UV rays.
How long does automotive window tinting take?
Most cars, trucks and SUVs are finished the same day, and many smaller jobs take a few hours. If you work, we offer drop-off options so you do not have to wait at the shop in Detroit.
Does the tint come with a warranty?
Yes. Every automotive window tint installation we do comes with a lifetime warranty, and XPEL PRIME films are backed by XPEL against bubbling, peeling, cracking and colour change. If anything ever goes wrong with the film, we make it right.

When can I roll the windows down after tinting?
Leave the windows up for three to five days while the film cures. A little haziness or a few small water pockets are normal in that time and clear on their own as the film dries.
